About NorthStar

Meet Amy Patterson, MMSc, PA-C

A board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in hormone therapy for women in perimenopause and menopause, and medical weight loss for both women and men.

Amy founded NorthStar after seeing the same thing again and again — women navigating real hormonal changes being rushed through appointments, told their labs looked "fine," and left without a clear path forward.

She wanted to build something different: a practice where patients actually have time to talk, where labs are interpreted in context, and where the plan adjusts as you do.

Why This Practice Exists

For years Amy worked inside systems where appointments were short, follow-up was reactive, and patients — especially women dealing with hormonal shifts — were told their symptoms were "just part of aging."

She kept hearing the same things: I've been to three doctors and no one can explain what's happening. Or: My labs came back normal but I don't feel normal.

NorthStar was built to close that gap. Not with more services or faster prescriptions — but with time, context, and a willingness to look at the full picture before jumping to a plan.

Every patient gets the same thing: a thorough conversation, labs that are ordered with purpose and reviewed together, and a treatment approach that evolves as you do.

Training That Shapes the Approach

Amy's clinical background spans more than 25 years across internal medicine, obesity medicine, and orthopedics. That range isn't just a résumé line — it's why she connects symptoms that other providers might look at in isolation.

Education
Master of Medical Sciences from Emory University. Board-certified Physician Assistant with advanced training in hormone management and metabolic health.
Specialization
Focused exclusively on hormone therapy for perimenopause and menopause, and evidence-based medical weight loss — not a little of everything, but dedicated, focused practice in what she treats.
Affiliations
Amy is nationally certified by the NCCPA and maintains active membership in leading professional organizations supporting women’s health and clinical excellence.

Amy's approach treats symptoms as the primary guide — because how you feel matters more than any single number. Labs come in as a useful tool for context and storytelling, not as the decision-maker.
